Mark Selent MA CCC-SLP, owner, Accent Training Center, LLC, is a speech-language pathologist specializing in accent reduction training and linguistic diversity. For the past three years Mark has been providing accent reduction services to individuals and organizations in various fields including healthcare, technology, engineering, finance, and business.
He is a fully certified speech pathologist by the State of Ohio and by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. In addition to being formally trained in teaching articulation and language correction as a speech pathologist, he received certification in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) from CELT and is certified in the Compton P-ESL accent reduction method. Mark has blended his formal training with his personal cultural and linguistic experiences allowing for a personal perspective of his clients’ difficulties. He has lived abroad for six years and has studied Spanish, German, Yiddish, Hebrew, and Arabic. He recently began studying Chinese and Hindi in order to broaden his linguistic knowledge.
He holds certification in LSVT (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment), LSVRT (Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy), NMES (neuro-muscular electrical stimulation, FEES (Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing), and is a registered MBSimp clinician (interpretation of Modified Barium Swallow Studies). Additionally, Mark has received the American Speech-Language Hearing Association ACE award for excellence in continuing education in 2014 and 2015.
Under Mark’s expertise the Accent Training Center has grown to a full-scale provider of English pronunciation programs, software solutions, and cultural consulting. The Accent Training Center now serves individuals face-to-face in the Greater Cleveland Area and throughout the world via online conferencing.
The Accent Training Center has worked with corporations representing different fields such as Parker Hannifin, Flow Polymers, and Oracle Software. In late 2014, the Accent Training Center became the official provider of accent reduction services to the Cleveland Clinic. Mark continues to develop accent training materials and incorporating technology in the learning process. The organization continues to grow adding contracts with individuals, small businesses, and Fortune 500 companies.
